Who we are

My House Survey Ltd ("we", "us") is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can contact us at robert@myhousesurvey.ie or 087 390 6015. This policy explains how we handle personal data in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU 2016/679) and the Irish Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect

  • Your details: name, email address, phone number and, where relevant, your postal address.
  • Property details: the address and Eircode of the property, property type and size, and details of the works or issues concerned.
  • Access contacts: the name, email address and phone number of the estate agent, solicitor or builder's site representative who gives us access.
  • Files you upload: photographs, drawings and documents you send with an enquiry.
  • Payment information: handled by our payment provider. We never see or store your full card details.
  • Website data: with your consent, analytics and advertising cookies, including how you arrived at the site.

Why we use it and our legal basis

  • To carry out your survey and issue your report — performance of our contract with you.
  • To arrange access with an agent, solicitor or builder — performance of our contract, and our legitimate interest in delivering the service.
  • To take payment and keep accounting records — contract and legal obligation.
  • To answer enquiries and provide quotes — our legitimate interest in responding to you.
  • To retain reports for professional and insurance purposes — legal obligation and legitimate interest.
  • Analytics and advertising cookies — your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Who we share it with

We share personal data only where necessary: with the engineer, surveyor or architect carrying out your survey; with the estate agent, solicitor or builder's representative arranging access; with our payment provider to take payment; with our IT, email and document storage providers; and with our accountants, insurers or legal advisers where required. We do not sell personal data. Where a provider is outside the European Economic Area, transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

Survey records and reports are kept for the period required by our professional indemnity insurers and the statutory limitation periods, typically up to twelve years after the survey. Accounting records are kept for six years. Enquiries that do not proceed to a booking are deleted within two years.

Cookies

Essential cookies keep the site working. Analytics and advertising cookies, including Google Analytics and Google Ads through Google Tag Manager, load only after you accept them in our cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser and choosing again.

Your rights

You have the right to access your personal data, to have inaccurate data corrected, to request erasure, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. To exercise any of these rights, email robert@myhousesurvey.ie. You also have the right to complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.

Security

Bookings and uploaded files are stored in access-controlled systems. Files you upload are held in private storage and are not publicly accessible. Access is limited to the people who need it to deliver your survey.
